I love the fall. I love the weather; I love the leaves crunching beneath my feet; I love reuniting with my boots again after many months apart; I love hayrides and hikes through picturesque fall foliage; I love pumpkin- and apple-flavored and smelling things; I love corn mazes and pumpkin carving; I love all the colors and smells of fall. I love the wondrous disappearance of mosquitoes. I love fall. I also recently purchased a new fall-scented Spiced Pumpkin Yankee candle. The smells make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I burn them in the evenings after a long day of work. And I can’t wait to drink the bottle of spiced wine I bought at my cousin’s bachelorette wine tasting this past spring from the Williamsburg Winery in Virginia that I have been saving for this wonderful time of year. I also just visited Bath and Body Works to update my wallflowers and hand soap collection with fall fragrances (Leaves, Cranberry Woods, Harvest Gathering, Nutmeg and Spice, Hazelnut Latte, and Autumn Day, to name a few). Yay. Don’t the names alone make you happy? 🙂
….But hopefully not my last!
I know, I know, I know, Amy’s wedding was two whole weeks ago – what have I been doing with my life? Why am I slacking on posting about the wedding cake? Honestly? I’ve been sleeping, and watching a lot of TV, and taking Miss Daisy to the park many, many times. Yes, I’ve been relaxing, and with Christian being in NH last week, I was busy being a single puppy parent, which – let me tell YOU – isn’t easy. I cannot even imagine what being a single human baby parent must be like. At least a puppy I can leave home alone and lock up when I need to get things done. I think putting a baby human in a cage is frowned upon…And I’m pretty sure leaving one home alone is neglect and/or abandonment…either way, puppy = way easier than baby. I get it mother. No worries. (That statement was legitimately for my mother.) And then this week, between entertaining my little monster and entertaining Daisy (I so funny), it has taken me all week to complete this post! But I digress…Back to the point: THE WEDDING CAKE!
Sooo, let’s start with the good news first. I made an adorable little 6″ round cake last weekend. My standard vanilla yellow cake recipe with classic buttercream frosting. It was very cute, and tasted delicious, see?
